In this article, we will focus on getting to JPO from Singapore by bus.
From Singapore (via Woodlands Crossing / First Link)
The most popular way to cross the border from Singapore to Malaysia is at Woodlands Checkpoint, the busiest land crossing in the world. Numerous bus services are available to cross the border at Woodlands Checkpoint, check out Bus Services From Singapore to Johor Bahru (via Woodlands). You may also access Woodlands Checkpoint by foot from Woodlands Train Checkpoint.
Bus Route: JPO2
Boarding location: CIQ Johor Bahru (Bangunan Sultan Iskandar), bus bays after clearing immigration at arrival hall.
Causeway Link bus JPO2 is a new point-to-point direct bus service from CIQ Johor Bahru to JPO introduced on 16 January 2025. This bus service runs at a 3-hour interval. If you missed the bus, you basically have to wait for the same bus to come back. Do take note of the bus timings and plan your journey.
Bus Timetable
- Departures from CIQ Johor Bahru: 0900, 1200, 1500, 1800
- Departures from JPO: 1100, 1400, 1700, 2000
Payment Methods
Visa, Manjalink Card and Cash are accepted on Causeway Link JPO2.
Fare: RM4.50. (Same fare as JPO1)
Alighting: JPO2 is a point-to-point direct bus service, you will be brought to the bus terminal at Johor Premium Outlets, where you can board the same bus for your return journey.

From Singapore (via Tuas Checkpoint / Second Link)
Other than using the world's busiest land crossing at Woodlands Checkpoint, you may also cross the border at the far western end of Singapore, at Tuas Checkpoint. At Tuas Checkpoint, Causeway Link dominates the cross-border bus services available and operates them really efficiently. You cannot access Tuas Checkpoint by foot, the nearest bus service available to access Tuas Checkpoint is at Tuas Link Station, check out Bus Services From Singapore to Johor Bahru (via Second Link).
Bus Route: JPO3
Boarding location: CIQ Second Link (Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar), bus bays after clearing immigration at arrival hall.
Causeway Link bus JPO3 is also a new point-to-point direct bus service from CIQ Second Link to JPO introduced on 16 January 2025. This bus service also runs at a 3-hour interval. If you missed the bus, you have to wait for the same bus to come back. Do take note of the bus timings and plan your journey.

- Departures from JPO: 1030, 1330, 1630, 1930

Alighting: JPO3 is a point-to-point direct bus service, you will be brought to the bus terminal at Johor Premium Outlets, where you can board the same bus for your return journey.

From JB Sentral
If you are crossing the border from Singapore, whether you decide to grab breakfast or lunch near CIQ Johor Bahru before heading over to JPO for shopping, or missed the bus bays after the immigration hall, you have a bus option from JB Sentral too.
Option 1: Direct route
Bus Route: JPO1
Boarding location: JB Sentral Bus Terminal (located after you exit CIQ Johor Bahru by foot, and before JB Sentral KTM train station).
Causeway Link bus JPO1 is an existing bus service running since 2011 between JB Sentral and JPO, stopping at various intermediate stops along the way. This bus service also does not run frequently, do take note of the bus timings and plan your journey.

- Departures from JB Sentral Terminal: 0900, 1220, 1540, 1900
- Departures from JPO: 1040, 1400, 1720, 2100

Alighting: Alight at Johor Premium Outlets Terminal.

Option 2: Transfer once
Bus Route: BAS.MY Johor Bahru Bus J30, transfer to Grab / Taxi at Senai.
If you missed JPO1 at JB Sentral, bus J30 is a good alternative route. Bus J30 operates frequently at 15 minutes interval between JB Sentral and Kulai. You may encounter long waiting times for a private hire car at JB Sentral due to the traffic congestion in the area, especially during peak hours. If you are in time for bus J30, you might consider leaving JB Sentral and get to an alternative location to book a Grabcar.
Boarding location for J30: JB Sentral Bus Terminal (located after you exit CIQ Johor Bahru by foot, and before JB Sentral KTM train station).
Alighting location for J30 to change to private car or taxi: Alight at the bus stop Opp Deway Motor Trading (also known as BSN Senai, or Taman Senai Utama).
Payment Methods for J30: Visa, Mastercard, Manjalink Card and Cash are accepted.

5km Ride to JPO: If you are planning to change to a private hire car or taxi, this bus stop at the bus stop Opp Deway Motor Trading is the nearest point to JPO, just a 5 to 10 minutes ride to JPO.
