Volvo B5RLE Hybrid
After the conclusion on the trial of Sunlong diesel-electric hybrid buses in 2011, no more hybrid buses were evaluated until 2015. The Volvo B5RLEH came as the second model of the diesel-electric hybrid bus trial by SBS Transit.
The bus came with full Australian specifications with the wheelchair bay removed. It is same unit was displayed at the Australian Bus and Coach Show 2013 in Sydney. The bus arrived Singapore in its original livery as early as January 2014, reportedly spotted running short non-revenue test trips.
The Road Traffic (Volvo Diesel Hybrid Bus Trial) (Exemption) Order 2014 was released in September 2014, stating that the permitted trial period is from 15 September 2014 to 14 September 2015 and that it could only be deployed specifically on SBST bus service 143, 143A, 174, 174e, 185, 334 or 506.

Finally, the bus was registered as "SBS8002T" on 16 Feb 2015 and began service on Express 506 on 1 March 2015.
On 20 February 2016, the reappearance of SBS8002T on SBS Transit feeder bus service 268 marks the beginning of another revenue service trial. The second Exemption Order for this Volvo hybrid bus trial was released in February 2016, stating the following bus services it could be deployed on:
13, 13A, 21, 21A, 26, 29, 29A, 38, 45, 45A, 54, 63, 70, 70A, 70B, 70M, 73, 124, 130, 131, 131A, 135, 135A, 139, 145, 145A, 155, 155A, 162, 162M, 222, 222A, 265, 268, 268A, 269, 269A, 293, 410G or 410W.
The second phase of the trial will expire on 28 August 2016.
