SBS Transit

The Sunlong SLK6121UF14H diesel-electric (hybrid) bus was launched in July 2010, making it the first diesel-electric hybrid public bus in Singapore's public transport industry and the first China-made buses introduced by SBS Transit. Two units (registered as SBS8000Z and SBS8001X on 17 July 2010) were put on trial, beginning operations on trunk service 185 on 8 August 2010. During the trial period, the buses were also deployed on feeder service 334 and express service 502 and 502A. The trial concluded in 2012. Thereafter, the two buses were reportedly spotted in white, in the restricted area of Changi Airport, providing internal airport services under Dnata. In early 2014, one of the buses (SBS8000Z) was spotted on test drives with its original appearance. SBS8000Z was subsequently acquired by Republic Express and currently registered as PC2677D. The buses were manufactured with the collaboration of Shanghai Sunlong, Eaton, Gemilang Coachworks and ComfortDelgro Engineering. The buses are powered by a 44kW electric motor using four Lithium-ion batteries, and Cummins ISDe230-41 diesel engine to provide additional power when necessary. Electricity is generated and stored in the batteries through regenerative braking, reducing fuel consumption. The buses use the parallel hybrid system, integrated with the transmission, developed by Eaton Corporation. Capacity Provision: Seating 33 + Standing 47 = 80
