Alexander Dennis Enviro500 MMC

The Enviro500 Major Model Change(known as E500MMC for short) is the first ever Alexander Dennis branded bus to be brought into Singapore, after the merger of Walter Alexander Coachworks and Dennis Specialist Vehicles, which produced the Dennis Lance 245. It is also the first Double Decker bus in Singapore to have Tree Guards.

The Enviro 500 MMC was a breakthrough for SMRT Buses, as it had the tradition of having a fleet of bendy buses for high capacity usage, rather than Double Deckers. It was also successful for Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL), as it secured the deal of providing SMRT Buses with Double Decker.

As Alexander Dennis Limited had no sales history of buses to Public Transport Operators (PTOs) before the Enviro500 MMC, SMRT Buses could have opted for Volvo to supply them with Double Decker Buses, instead of ADL.

Powered by the Cummins ISL8.9E5340B engine and coupled with the ZF EcoLife 6AP1700B automatic transmission gearbox, it delivers sufficient power and torque while ensuring a smooth ride. Doors are provided by Ventura Systems, which also provides doors for the Enviro500 MMCs in Hong Kong.
