The public bus network in Melaka was operated by numerous bus operators before 2012. On 1 February 2012, Panorama Melaka acquired 10 private bus companies with the aim of transforming and improving the public transport system in Melaka.
The 10 companies are:

- Syarikat Town Bus Service Bhd
- Syarikat Malacca Omnibus Service Sdn Bhd
- Syarikat Bas Tai Lye Sdn Bhd
- Syarikat Patt Hup Transport Sdn Bhd
- Syarikat Bas Tuah Sdn Bhd
- Syarikat Batang Bus Sdn Bhd
- Syarikat Salira Transport & Tours Sdn Bhd
- Syarikat Roda Juara Sdn Bhd
- Syarikat Bas Wira Sdn Bhd
Since February 2012, public transport in Melaka has been primarily operated by Panorama Melaka and Mara Liner, until May 1, 2024.
SBST Melaka - Revamped Bus Services
Starting from 1 May 2024, the Stage Bus Service Transformation (SBST) Melaka was introduced to further enhance the public bus system in Melaka. With the introduction of this new scheme, bus routes were renumbered, new Foton C10 electric buses were added to the fleet, and a cashless payment system, Manjalink, by Handal Indah Sdn Bhd (better known as Causeway Link), was introduced in the city. Handal Indah also collaborates with Panorama Melaka and Mara Liner to operate the bus services in the city. Nonetheless, two Panorama Melaka's bus routes 6A (Melaka Sentral to Muar) and 8 (Melaka Sentral to Tangkak) continues to operate under the Interim Stage Bus Support Fund (ISBSF) scheme.
SBST Melaka trunk routes are prefixed with "T," and feeder routes are short routes prefixed with "F."
BAS.MY Melaka - Distinctive Pink Buses
From 1 October 2024, all route numbers will be prefixed with "M." BAS.MY Melaka was launched on 29 October 2024, marking the official rebrand of SBST Melaka to BAS.MY Melaka. Fifty-one eye-catching pink buses will be deployed to operate on 19 main routes across Melaka.
