Dennis Lance (UMW Malaysia)

SMRT Buses

This batch of Dennis Lance 245 were built by UMW-Dennis in Malaysia. New in 1998, these buses were first introduced without Electronic Destination Signs[EDS]. Full sized destos were used instead then. This batch of buses look identical to its Malaysian counterparts. The interior of these buses also look almost flawlessly the same as the ones under Malaysian operators such as Causeway Link, and Triton. It was not known if TIBS back then had bought these batch of buses from a Malaysian operator to increase its fleet size, as the interior configuration do not match to other TIBS buses which had the signature green interior, with green fabric seats. Subsequently, EDS was fitted onto these buses[with the exception of PA4076K, which still uses the "CHARTERED" desto] and the use of full sized destos have not been seen after. Despite being younger than the O405s and DAF buses, the TIB plated Lances were prematurely taken out of service. It is unknown as to why it was being withdrawn, but the maintenance of such buses have been left a lot to be desired.
