Malaysian Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced on 16 March 2020 that a Movement Control Order will be implemented from 18 March 2020 to 28 April 2020 in a bid to control the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19. Following the COVID-19 outbreak, the order is made in accordance with the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967.

EDIT: MCO was previously imposed from 18 March 2020 to 31 March 2020. An extension to 14 April 2020 was announced later on 25 March 2020.

UPDATE ON 11 APR: A second extension will be imposed until 28 April 2020.

UPDATE ON 23 APR: A third extension will be imposed until 12 May 2020.

Further updates will be updated in this article should any further extensions be imposed. 

During this period, all Malaysian citizens are not allowed to travel abroad. Foreign tourists and visitors will not be allowed entry to Malaysia as well.

Malaysian citizens returning home from overseas must go through health inspection and self-quarantine for 14 days. Foreigners are allowed to leave Malaysia.

All schools in Malaysia from Kindergarten to Universities will be closed. All businesses will be closed, except supermarkets, mini-markets, markets and convenience stores and those providing essential services such as banking, transport, healthcare, utilities and security.

Cross-border bus services between Johor Bahru and Singapore will be curtailed or suspended.

Since the evening, bus services 160, 170, 170X and 950 will only operate within Singapore due to heavy traffic congestion along the Causeway.

SBS Transit buses 160 and 170 will continue to operate within Singapore. 

SBS Transit bus 170X, SMRT bus 950 and Causeway Link cross-border bus services CW1, CW2, CW3, CW4, CW4S, CW5, CW6 and CW7 will not operate during this period.

No announcements have been made at the time of post on other cross-border bus services such as AC7, TS1, TS3, TS6, TS8 and Singapore-Johore Express. However, these services are expected to be suspended as well.
