COVID-19 CMCO: Johor Bahru Bus Services Updates - 12 May 2020

Announced on 1 May 2020 by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) has been implemented from 4 May 2020, allowing most businesses to resume operations.

UPDATE ON 10 MAY: CMCO has been extended until 9 June 2020.

Johor Public Transport Corporation or Perbadanan Pengangkutan Awam Johor (PAJ) announced that all Bas Muafakat Johor across all Johor states will resume normal operations from 5 May 2020.

On 7 May 2020, Causeway Link has announced on the updated bus operating hours for selected bus services. Causeway Link bus services operating in Johor Bahru such as 5B, 7B, 10B, 66, 77B, 111, 505, 666, 777B, BET3 and S1 will now resume operating for the entire day from 5am to 10pm.

Causeway Link bus services 1B, AA1, CT1, PM1, JPO1, MV2, LM1, IM05 and all cross-border related bus services will continue to be suspended.

The Johor Public Works Department (JKR) has also announced updates on 6 May 2020 in a media statement, regarding the operations of public transportation including Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal.

Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal will operate from 6am to 10pm during CMCO. In the efforts to control the outbreak of COVID-19, passengers visiting the bus terminal will undergo a body temperature check and have their personal particulars recorded manually or through a QR code application.

As at 4 May 2020, local bus services operated by Maju and Transit Link JB (City Bus) were in operation. However, it is not known which routes specifically are in operation. Maju bus 96, 207, 208, 224 and 227 as well as Transit Link JB (City Bus) bus 2, 3 and 39 operates from Larkin Sentral Bus Terminal.

On interstate travel, passengers who wish to purchase tickets for express buses will be required to present documents such as letter of authorisation, death certificate, letter of health check or letter from the employer. Passengers could also apply for approval on interstate travel through the Gerak Malaysia app and present the proof of approval at the counter. As directed by National Security Council (MKN), interstate travel for the purpose of celebrating Hari Raya is not permitted.

Safe social distancing measures will be in place when the bus services resume operations. Passengers are required to stay at least 1 meter away from other people while waiting for buses to arrive, wear a face mask and refrain from sitting on bus seats marked for safe distancing. Passengers are also encouraged to use a hand sanitizer before and after the bus ride.
